Norm has been the Coordinator for the Vancouver Aboriginal Community Policing Centre since May 2016. He is from T’it’q’et, a St’at’imc Nation community which surrounds the town of Lillooet. His previous experience includes:
Michael is Anishnaabe (Odawa/“Ottawa” Nation) from Wikwemikong, Manitoulin Island, Ontario. He is a program coordinator at VACPC, working mostly with youth and elders. Michael grew up dealing with many of the same social issues (addiction, poverty, violence, etc.) afflicting many urban Aboriginal communities today and as a result became interested in finding holistic and spiritual ways of addressing them.
Constable Holly Christie is the Vancouver Aboriginal Community Policing Centre’s (VACPC) liaison officer. Holly has been with VACPC since September 2014 and has been a police officer with the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) for over 13 years.
Over the last 13 years of her career with the VPD, Holly has worked in Patrol (District 2), Neighbourhood Policing (Grandview Woodlands CPC and Hastings Sunrise CPC), Problem Oriented Policing (POP Coordinator), the Planning, Research and Audit Section and currently the Diversity and Aboriginal Policing Section.
Due to her expanding obligations for the First Nations Technology Council, Denise is unable to devote the time necessary to fulfill her role as a Director with the Vancouver Aboriginal Community Policing Centre. The Board and Directors and Staff at the VACPC are extremely grateful to Denise for her dedication and unflagging support for the important work of the Centre over the past 8 years. She has served the Centre and the community with honour and distinction throughout her tenure on the Board.
